Celebrating One Year of Coworking and Community at Workspace

A Roundup of Big Ideas, Local Business Bonding, and New Ways to Meet Your Professional Needs in Shelby County

Workspace is celebrating our one-year anniversary! What a year it’s been! In 2021, Workspace was born from the former corporate office for Pace USA – a customized logistics service provider. When we combined Pace’s corporate headquarters with our teams and warehouse facility in Bessemer, we knew our beautiful, functional, and conveniently located space would offer local business professionals, freelancers, and entrepreneurs a space to work outside of the home or corporate office. We also hoped our new business venture would enhance the economic health and diversity of Shelby County.

Workspace has grown into a flexible, professional office and meeting space. We are a proud local business in the city of Pelham and active members of the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce, the Birmingham Coworking Collective, and the Global Workspace Association. Our mission continues as we strive to offer a coworking space where professionals can experience the benefits of coworking locally - alongside their neighbors - and improve their well-being by working in a modern, clean, productive environment while avoiding the commute to downtown Birmingham. We have also discovered that we can be a landing place for locals to share their expertise, their practice, and their ideas with others!

This vision came to life most recently during our celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8th. Local women professionals led sessions throughout the day, including Empowerment Coach Arlene Henderson of Hear My Cry Sisterhood LLC, Soul Story Therapy’s Hanna Stiltner, and Shayla Nicole, Digital Content Creator, Marketing Strategist, and Founder of 6tysix Media. We concluded the day with big ideas, new friends, and a sense of momentum for more.

This year we’ve seen firsthand how the variety of meeting spaces, event spaces, offices, and coworking space at Workspace facilitate creativity and productivity. We’ve witnessed ideas transform into reality while members sharpen skills and strengthen bonds. Our flex meeting room is the perfect place to brainstorm and develop a seed idea or new business concept. The whiteboard, wireless conference and presentation technology, and moveable furniture help foster creativity and communication. The conference room at Workspace is suited for business planning, pitches, or other occasions where you need a professional, upgraded space to meet with others. When it’s time for networking, sharing, and celebrating, our café-style common area and outdoor patio are large and inviting spaces. We truly look forward to the future growth in ideas, business, and community that will take place within the walls of Workspace over the next year!

We’ve also learned that our community wants and needs more affordable, convenient, and flexible private office space. Over the last twelve months, we’ve heard your feedback and expanded our private workstations, including private offices, private reserved desks, and an additional private phone booth open to all members. We’re also excited to give a boost to our coworking community by offering a Summer Pass with a significant discount and incentives to build coworking at Workspace into your productivity routine.

Thank you to our members and other local businesses we’ve grown and partnered with over the year. Special shout outs to Santos Coffee, 24e Pelham, Pelham City Schools Foundation, Business Interiors, Maridan, Chorus SmartSecure, City of Alabaster, The Shelby County Chamber, Shelby County Reporter, Bham Now, and to all of our members and those who have tried our space for meetings, events, and coworking.

As we move into our second year at Workspace, we venture to continue meeting your needs for convenient, technology-driven events, meetings, and coworking. We will continue strengthening relationships with local business professionals and pledge to take an active role in promoting a vibrant and healthy local community in Pelham, Shelby County, and the metro Birmingham area.
